Public Transportation Provider

RTEC provides public transportation to access shopping, medical and community programs in the local service area.

For next day service, call the reservation office the day before travel is planned for a schedule in your area. A curb-to-curb fare for each ride is $0.80 per mile (minimum $3.00). Cash only.  Same day service reservation or Saturday afternoon is $1.20 per mile, since this is not regular days of operations.

The reservation office is open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST and on Saturdays 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 PM EST except on major holidays.

RTEC contracts to provide the regular transportation services for an organization or group, including their group outings.   The fees for a 7/12 passenger van is a minimum of $7.00 per hour and $1.00 per mile for each vehicle.  Buses are higher, including a start-up fee of $35.00 per bus, $10.00 per hour and $1.25 per mile.  All trips will be open to the general public at the regular cash fare.

At this time, out of state (charter) trips are not available. Call the reservation office for more information.

Holiday Closings:  The office and transit service is closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Inclement Weather:  Transit service will be closed when roads are hazardous for travel. During inclement weather conditions, RTEC will cancel service or operate on a limited basis. RTEC will resume services on roads that are priority for snow removal and will resume regular service when all roads are clear and safe for travel.

Routes:  Vehicles are dispatched in a manner which will allow for higher utilization of each vehicle in the service area, therefore passengers may need to depart from their residence 45 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. Routes will be designed with as much passenger convenience as possible, while continuing to encourage increased ridership.
